31 March 2017

Under the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) all education providers offering CRICOS registered courses, and also all countries, are allocated an immigration risk rating between one and three.

The combined risk rating of provider and country guides the financial and English evidence that a student is required to submit with their application.

The immigration risk ratings for countries and providers was updated on 31 March 2017 (using data for the period 1 January – 31 December 2016). Applications submitted on or after 31 March 2017 will need to confirm the documentation they need to provide with their application. Immigration risk ratings only reflect the recruitment practices of education providers. They are not an indication of educational quality. The majority of providers have an immigration risk rating of two (approximately 80 per cent – including those considered “small” providers). The next update to immigration risk ratings will occur in September 2017 based on financial year data (1 July 2016-30 June 2017).
